Are you looking into homeschooling, but don't know where to start?
Are you wondering about your options on schooling?
Are you weighing your options of public school versus homeschooling and you are not sure where to turn?
You have come to the right place. Here we will give you a brief overview of homeschooling or home educating and it is up to you to decide which you would prefer to try. On this site we will talk about the process of getting started, different styles of therapy, and curriculum review with advice on modifications to fit your child's needs. We also talk about the importance of writing an IEP with your selected team. We will also give you an example of what a school day could look like. We address the issues of socialization, and look into supplemental resources and how they can affirm what you have been teaching.
Whether you are facing severe autism, mild autism, pdd, pdd-nos, asperger syndrome or high functioning autism, this website will help answer questions that you may have about homeschooling your child.
This website is about giving examples and suggestions. You do not have to do everything on these pages, this is to serve as a guide to help you on your journey. Every person will have a different experience and a different story. EVERYONE can homeschool if they have the desire. You do not have to be the most intelligent nor do you have to have it "all together". Homeschooling your child is a work in progress, and everyday you will experience something new and different. Your life will not be boring.
Do you ask yourself what if I fail? Guess what, we all have times in our lives where we have not been successful. We have to then look at ourselves and be willing to make adjustments to our expectations, our schedule or our attitudes. Then we usually find out, if we keep trying, that we will be successful.
Remember that life requires balance. Whether you home school or not, take time for yourself doing the thing that you love. You will be glad that you did.
It is our hope that you find inspiration on this site.
Remember: Check your local governments website for the homeschool laws in your state or you can check them at www.hslda.org
this the Home School Legal Defense Association's website. We highly recommend this organization.
